What We Knew While Steve was in Surgery

  • Hello again, this is Lisa, writing from our beachfront patio, watching the beautiful Caribbean ocean. Lesley has been updating this blog since she is with Steve and Terry and I am not even in the country. I have been anxiously awaiting information, just like all of you have, to hear about the surgery. I thought I would share what I have heard, just in case any of you missed it, so here are copies of our Facebook messages and an e-mail message. These were posted mostly on the day of surgery and into the evening that night.

Now we await details about the recovery and the next plan of attack against this horrible cancer. Terry continuously is thankful for all the support she receives from you all.  Please continue to let Steve and her know you care.

        • From Chrissy via Facebook message: Hope you are enjoying your vacation!!!! Great news...step in a positive direction.......they took the entire tumor out!!!!! yes....entire tumor........still not sure what that entails....but no mass in the head.....positive steps.

talk more soon......Les should be posting update on the blog probably tomorrow......would be my guess.

        • I've been worrying about Steve all yesterday and today, and have been thankful for all the posts/info passed on. SSSSOOOO glad the surgery went well. It's so scary knowing what Could go wrong, and hoping it doesn't, and I'm so glad Steve seems to have really done well. I'm waiting for continuing info about if there are any neurological deficit noticeable. Memory? Space/time deficits? and language? Those are probably the biggest ones for Steve. Thanks for keeping my in the loop!
        • From Lesley via Facebook message: I updated when I got home this evening. I would tell you here, but I just wrote it on the blog, so you can read it there. Really not much to say today, and hoping tomorrow goes smoothly. I will update as soon as I know something.

        • Marion Blair Laurie I am so happy that they did the surgery. Do you know if they put glio wafers in? He just needs to keep running from this monster and remember that the only one who knows what is going to happen is above. I remember telling our Rabbi to prove to me that there is a G-d and he did. We are beating all the odds and so will he. Keeping him in our prayers.

        • Lesley Kennedy We are waiting to see him in the neuro ICU. Terry saw im in recovery and said he was loopy but good. They did one more MRI after the surgery, but we have not seen the Dr since he came out of the OR.

        • Lesley Kennedy Just got out from seeing Steve. He looks and sounds great. All fingers, toes, vision, speech are working well. The only thing he has so far is floaters in his right eye, but they may go away. Good news ia that after the MRI the Dr said there is no tumor. They got it all!

        • Annette Goodfellow That is awesome news! Hug both Steve and Terry for us.

        • Lesley Kennedy Katie...100%. However, they will still do the chemo and radiation to kill the floating cells that typically are there with this type of cancer. I have not spoken to the Dr since the surgery, but it is still an aggressive type of cancer that tends to return. So we are cautiously optimistic.
